The calculation ofthe Private Security Cost Index is a project launched by the Groupement des Entreprises de Sécurité Privée (Association ofPrivate Security Companies) in 2020. It aims to provide the profession with a tool for revaluing service contracts. Historically, only one INSEE index has existed, which is not adapted to the specificities of the security profession, a labor-intensive sector.
Based on the Syntec index model, which is recognized in the consulting sector, the ICSP index aims to become the benchmark index for the profession, both among human security providers and clients. The composition of the panel of respondent companies, the tools used to collect information, the calculation of the index, and its publication must not be called into question. Furthermore, as the confidentiality of information is essential to the development and sustainability of the index, particular attention has been paid to ensuring that the information provided remains completely confidential.
The index was developed in stages. First, several companies were contacted to form the panel. A 24-month history of economic data was reconstructed. A secure platform was developed to collect two essential pieces of information: the total payroll and the FTE for the month. The data entered is systematically checked for consistency to ensure that the information collected is accurate.
Panelists have secure access to the platform to submit their data. Each month, messages are sent to data entry managers to update the data. After three messages without response, an escalation process is triggeredfor the manager to ensure continuity of information.
